App-controlled sex machines: which ones a partner can really use from far away
These are the machines you can hand over to someone else, whether they're sitting across the room or three time zones away. Most machines have an app now, so the question to ask is whether a partner can actually use it from far away.

Long distance or same room only? The quick list
Here's what each maker actually promises on its product page:
- Hismith Mini Pro: long distance, from anywhere with internet
- Lovense Mini Sex Machine: long distance, a partner just opens a Control Link
- Lovense Sex Machine: long distance, "regardless of the distance"
- Motorbunny Original: long distance, through the LINK internet controller (the only saddle here)
- Hismith Capsule: long distance, shared through the app
- Auxfun App-Controlled: same room only, as far as the product page says
How the remote part actually works
Most of these machines connect to your phone by Bluetooth, which only reaches across a room or so. Long-distance control works on top of that, by sending your partner's taps over the internet to your phone and then on to the machine, so your phone has to stay close by and online. If a maker only mentions Bluetooth, I treat it as same-room only.
My top pick
The Hismith Mini Pro. The maker says plainly that a partner can control it from anywhere with internet, you can also use a remote or a wire, and the stroke adjusts from 1.2 to 3.5 in. If you or your partner already use Lovense toys, the Lovense Mini Sex Machine is the easiest one to share with a link, and if you'd rather ride, the Motorbunny Original is the saddle to look at.
Who should stick to a plain remote
If you don't want an account or an app on your phone, or you'd rather just turn a dial, skip this whole category. A simple machine like the Sybian Classic or the Auxfun Basic will suit you better. And whichever you buy, look for a backup remote or wired controller, so you're never stuck if the app or the Wi-Fi acts up.

Where it falls short
- You can't return it unless it arrives faulty
- The maker says "quiet" but won't give a number
- The 3.5 in maximum stroke is short if you like it deep

Alternative sex machines you should consider
At EUR 159, the Auxfun App-Controlled machine is the cheapest way into app control, but its product page only mentions Bluetooth, so plan on being in the same room. For like EUR 40 more, the Hismith Capsule says outright that a partner can control it from far away. And if you're thinking about the big Lovense Sex Machine mainly for the app, the Lovense Mini uses the same app and Control Link, weighs 18 lb less, and costs less.
Questions about apps, privacy and dropped connections
How does long-distance control work?
The machine connects to your phone by Bluetooth, and your phone connects to the internet. Your partner opens the same app (or a link you send them) and their taps travel over the internet to your phone, then to the machine. That means your phone has to stay close to the machine and online the whole time.
Can a partner control it without downloading an app?
Sometimes. Lovense's Control Link lets a partner take over by opening a link, and Lovense says "anyone, anywhere" can use it. Hismith and Motorbunny use their own apps, so check the maker's instructions before your first session together.
Are sex machine apps private?
It depends on the app, so read the privacy policy before you sign up. Apple's App Store privacy labels show that the Lovense Remote app links some data, like your email and usage, to you, while the Hismith and Auxfun apps say they don't collect data. Use a strong password, don't share control links publicly, and turn off the app when you're done.
What happens if the connection drops?
Makers don't publish exactly what each machine does when it loses the signal, so don't rely on the app as your only off switch. Keep the remote or wired controller within reach, and agree on a stop word or signal with your partner before you start.
Before your first session together

Set everything up and try the connection together before the night you actually want to use it, because nobody wants to spend the evening troubleshooting Bluetooth. Agree on what's okay and what isn't, pick a stop word, keep the remote within reach, and start slow. It's much more fun when you both trust the setup.
